Carlos Pirelli Exhibition
Carlos Pirelli was born in Uruguay on July 3, 1952. In 1973, he entered the Faculty of Architecture. In 1978 and 1979, he won a scholarship to study industrial design in Italy. Since 1977, he has worked as a set and costume designer. His connection with paper has been with him since that time, although his relationship with it has varied tirelessly. In presenting this itinerary, we can highlight the exhibitions at the "Azotea de Haedo" in Punta del Este in 1989 and 1990, those held at the "Linardi-Rizzo" Bookstore in Montevideo's Old City, as well as his participation in exhibitions at the Alliance Française, the Alicia Goyena Chair, and the Libertad Building. He was also the set designer for "La Noche de Oscar Alvarez" for over 10 years. He works as a set and costume designer with various theater groups and leading national directors. He even works at the Teatro San Martín in Buenos Aires. He has received several awards and nominations for the "Florencio Award" for his theatrical work. Since 2005, he has participated in the commemorations of "Heritage Day," opening the doors of his "Art Studio" to visitors, neighbors, and friends, showing his work. The interventions he creates around the sheet of paper can be associated with the idea of collage, relief, and volumetric collage. In this sense, he confesses to having gone through a process of utilizing the material to an appropriation that allows him to define himself as an artist who seeks, through his aesthetic experience, to bring paper to life.
